Once we uploaded our footage, we decided to cut out the original scene with the actress Zainab Ruby Jaye as we felt that she couldn't engage in the role properly and didn't match the criteria for what we wanted the filming to be like. One of the members within our group stepped in to fill the role and surprised us all as she fitted the role perfectly. She was able to engage in the role with confidence which was exactly what we were looking for. She also lip-synced the song perfectly which fitted the footage we had filmed accurately.
The first scene filmed was outside a house in Brighton, in which Lizzi the new actress lip synced the beginning part of the song whilst acting out a distressed, clearly heart-broken woman. There were a few problems as the weather was dull, but decided to adapt the rest of the filming to this misc-en-scene as it portrayed her mixed feelings. There was also the problem of the actress laughing a lot as she felt weird being filmed lip-singing, so recorded the song on her phone and told her to play this whilst she sung along to it, and then during editing we would just cut the sound out and play our song over this, as this would look more realistic anyway. After a few more re-takes, she finally properly engaged within the role in the next scene filmed on the roadside. The long shots that were filmed were so much better as she decided that she would walk towards the camera whilst singing the song which looked good as the timing to the song was great. The next scene filmed, was with the actress getting agitated at her partner being lazy as during research and planning, a lot of the music videos we saw which fit into the same genre as our song, had the couples arguing over home issues.
In many shots, we were able to catch mid-shots and long shots of the actress in action, miming along to the song which looks really good, and works in perfect timing with out music. The costume that our actress Lizzi wore was simple and lady like for a young-adult in the 21st century which fitted into what i wanted our target audience to perceive from the overall video. In the end, my group made a decision to not cast Lizzi in the final music video as there wasn't enough footage filmed in Brighton to be used. We decided that i would take her place as we would be able to film more footage and improve the shots filmed, following the same concept.
