Digipacks are a type of CD packaging made out of either card or cardboard material. Digipacks can flip open like a book, or it can have three parts, so that one part of the packaging opens to the right and the other to the left, with the main part being the CD in the center. Usually, the part of the digipack that holds the CD is made out of plastic like a traditional jewel case CD - the plastic part is simply attached to the paper background.
Advantages of digipacks.
By having more pannels you are able to add more design and album art within these pannels. This means it is more attractive to the audience and can share relavance with the album itself for example, the title itself. The digipacks are made out of plastic, and are fully recycled allowing the making of these products environmentaly friendly.
Disadvantages of digipacks.
Digipacks are more expensive to produce. Digipacks tend to break or get worm very easily as they are mostly made out of paper type material.Cds can fall out and get damaged also because of the weak material it is made out of. Compared to other casings such as jewel cd cases digipacks are weaker.
Key and constant features of digipacks.
The price of digipacks are fairly priced mainly depending on how many pannels the digipacks are made up of and the cd within it. The space in digipacks are not limited to just 4 pannels they can go up to 8 pannels.Digipacks do not just hold the cd but can hold additional features such as a booklet containing album information, track listings and lyrics.
